Let’s start with the something sad  . Missy pass both the Corporate Finance and Microeconomics paper. But the grades weren’t satisfying. Okay, actually I don’t have that high expectation of myself since I knew I didn’t have much time to study finish the entire subject. But passing by 1 mark just isn’t like me? This is a wake up call. *Ring Ring* Please start studying if you do not wish to flunk your final mocks. :study:

Half Mock Grades
I am aiming for a 50 marks in my MA paper today. That’s my favourite subject and it’s the only subject that make sense to me.
Plus, I am prepared to fail my POBF paper, I’ll be glad I didn’t get a 0 for that.
Anyway, I’ve got something funny to share after the rant about my results. I got this advertisement flyer at Raffles Place train station yesterday after school. I don’t usually look at it, but I browse through it on the way to the platform. It was from a hair and beauty saloon. I found something extremely hilarious about this flyer.

Flyer from a Saloon
- Sock Hair? Notice those words in Chinese means Short Hair.
- Men/Anty? Aunty? Ladies? Would I be bringing a bunny to a saloon to have their fur coloured? And only for aunties? Young teenagers, no?
- Highlight/Lowlight? It might be just me but I haven’t heard of anything called lowlight before. Is that a new method? Or … …? As per Kaylee, lowlights actually do exist, they make the hair colour darker. :spin:
Okay, I’m bad. But their flyer are even worse. I mean seriously, I understand that typographical errors are inevitable sometimes. But this is just too much. And only aunties? no office ladies when one of their shops is at the prime working area? Maybe they don’t do children business but aunty just isn’t the right word. Sock Hair? My hair is made from real human hair, not from socks. It doesn’t seems like a typo error to me. They have got some promotion from this flyer, but they aren’t promoting their services, their just promoting how unprofessional they are. They didn’t even proof read their flyers before distributing? What are your thoughts and interpretations to the above?
On a last note, I decided to join The Quilting Bee again (waiting for approval now), I used to be a member way back in the 2005 and 2006 if my memory didn’t fail me. I can’t pixel, yes I know that.
My patch (and the bee linking to my approval quilt) was drawn in Photoshop but not by pixelling. I can’t pixel, it’s ugly. Anyway, it’s my first time drawing a panda and a bee. The bee has a weird colour I know… and this cute little fat bumble bee can be found on the top of the home page, near the welcome message and on the footer of the rest of the pages. Yes, my bumble bee flies.

Don’t worry about your results as long as you have tried your best
This time you know where you’re wrong so erm, study harder next time :P hehes.
-_- at that advertisement.. I thought Singaporeans’ English standard is quite high? (higher than Malaysia
) sock hair… :spin: I didn’t know have lowlights eh.. o.O
(omg, I can’t stop using your smileys..)

Yup, I really need to put in more effort and study harder.
Well, that is provided it’s written by a Singaporean.
Actually, it’s only because our schools here emphasise more on English. I think the English in Malaysia is quite good too, I’ve a few friends from there who can speak and write English well.

Yeah, that salon unfortunately comes off as unprofessional. If I ever need a treatment for my sock hair, it’ll be the first place I go though.

haha saloons tend to have the dodgiest flyers ever!
8 January, 2009 at 12:16 am
Anty.. LOL!!! That was just too funny! And yes, as Kaylee has already pointed out, lowlights do exist. And I know because I had my “ah lian” phase and bleached my hair 4 years in a row, and needed lowlights to make my blonde look more believeable. HAHAHA.
And 34% is such a low passing mark. Lucky you! At uni, 50% is my passing mark. In high school, it was 60%. Haha. Hope you don’t feel too discouraged. I’m sure you’ll do better next round (+ studying).
8 January, 2009 at 2:28 pm
Even 34% is quite hard to achieve sometimes. If the passing mark is 50%, I think I will fail all my subjects.
All the local schools and institutes have a passing grade of 50%. I am taking a UOL external degree hence the passing grade is 34%.

Hey Dayna! Don’t be discouraged by your results – the marks don’t prove everything about you, so don’t give up hope in your other subjects. But one good thing about the grades are that you’ve passed both papers – well, always look at the bright side of life
I wonder if the ‘Or 47%’ remark written by your marker is written out of sarcasm or what – it feels as if the market thinks you couldn’t multiply 23.5 by 2
ouchie.
Haha the ‘sock’ hair gave me a good laugh! I guess that’s how many people who are less literate in English spell ‘short’. Lol!
Have a great week ahead! Tomorrow is Thursday and weekend is just round the corner. Hang in there!
8 January, 2009 at 3:27 pm
Yup, I was telling myself that I’m going to do better in the final mocks.
Oh, I didn’t think about that. I guess not? He’s quite a nice lecturer and friendly too.
I love Thursday because there’s no school, but my most hated POBF lesson is on Friday morning. I am coming down fast with Friday blues.

Where I live, anything below 50% is a fail. Good luck with your marks, though!
Lol @ sock hair and men/anty. But lowlights actually do exist! They are basically like highlights, but instead of making the hair colour lighter, it’s to make the hair have darker shades in it.
I really like your bee!

Oh, the passing mark for UOL papers are 34%.
Really? OMG. I have not seen in at saloons at all, this is the first. Thanks for letting me know.
I love my fat bumble bee too.
