I dropped by Comex IT Fair 2009 today at Suntec City. The place was packed even though it was a Friday. I guess it must be the school holidays. Anyway, I finally got myself a new backup baby – Seagate external hard disk 500GB for SGD 129 with 5 years warranty. This is my first external hard disk and it’s going to be very useful for transferring and backing up of data files.
Of course, I popped by John Little to grab the Nuxe Brightening Fluid and Kao Essential trial pack (shampoo, conditioner and treatment). The sales are ending this Sunday. How can I miss that?

Loots of the day!

I love my new Sea baby

my external hard drive is 240 gig and i use it for storing “live” stuff (i.e. not for backing up documents).. To back up stuff, I usually burn the information to discs! But from seeing your comments, seems the hard drives are now available in TBs!! I shd be looking into getting me one of those soon haha. Nice hard drive though! =D
Let me know how the shampoo set works out haha. I always get cheated by haircare products

I’m too lazy to burn them into discs. :P Actually, I don’t think 500GB is enough for me. Maybe when I’ve some extra cash, I will get a 1TB or something bigger next time. The only reason I wasn’t getting the 1TB one was because it requires a power plug to function which is quite troublesome. The hard disks now are so good looking. You will be tempted to buy when you see them. :P
Sure thing. A review for you coming right up.
I just tested the treatment and shampoo today, maybe I’ll write one next week or something. The only thing I can comment right now is that it smells really good. It’s been 3 hours since I took my bathe and my hair still has the fruity smell. It’s really cheap by the way. I got the set for only SGD 8. I tend to get cheated by skincare more often. I shall stick with my trusty Nuxe from now onwards. It has never failed me before!

I really want an external hard drive. It’s hard to back up your files with only a 1GB USB drive. :P I lost all my files about half a year ago, and it’s really scared me! I want to be able to back up in case that happens again.

I used to back up my files with a 3GB USB drive as well. It was full so I didn’t do any backups any more. :P

500Gig!??? I feel like stealing it from you already. Lol!

Haha and that is a small 500GB! haha I want a small one too.. my 1TB is just this huge box of a thing and I still have to plug it in. Dang. Haha but it’s really being used well!

I love your classy looking hard drive! Mine looks almost the same, it’s a matte finish silver one but it’s from Western Digital
320 GB!!! …which reminds me, I have to do some backing up soon! Haha.
12 September, 2009 at 5:07 pm
Oh, I saw the ones from Western Digital at the fair as well. It was 10 bucks cheaper than Seagate but with only 3 years warranty.

Huh? I’m sorry I only understand English.
Edit: Jeorgina did a translation for me. The hard disk is actually a genuine one from Seagate. It’s assembled in China though and I’m not sure where the parts are made. However, I have previously used Seagate hard disk for my laptop and it is quite reliable. I’m not sure if it can be send overseas though. I think Seagate is in Indonesia as well?

LOL at the Indonesian comment, I noticed that comment from your tweet, Dayna. =D Actually Evelyn is also one of my blogger friends from Indonesia. I guess she has misunderstood, maybe she thought that you’re a Chinese Indonesian too like me and her. We all actually look the same though.. no matter where we live. Hahaha..
Btw, Seagate is definitely a good choice for hard disk. I’m still saving money to buy one for myself too. Last time my university gave two free external hard disks from Seagate for two students with the best sketchbooks during the Final Project. Too bad I didn’t win any. I was so lazy sketching for the final project.

I guess all Asian look alike with dark hair etc.
Misunderstandings do happen, it’s a small issue really.
Even though I’m a Chinese, my Chinese is really bad. Thank goodness WordPress can’t render Chinese characters, if not I’ll be pretty ashamed of myself when someone post a comment in Chinese and I can’t understand it at all.
Seagate is definitely one of the better and more reliable ones out there, Chewy likes Western Digital hard disks though. Your university gives out hard disk as rewards? I wish mine does although I would prefer a cash prize. That would really motivate me to work hard. =D

Wow, 500 GB? That’s how much space I have in total on my home computer. And it’s fairly large.
Take good care of it, and make lots of backups with it. :spin:

oh i wanted to get a hard disk too!
500GB~ omg… so good~ I seriously wanna get this! I can almost squeeze my whole com into this haha! Eh anyway, u gt any idea how long can a external hard disk stay gd? as in dun spoil… is it ok if I leave it aside without using it? lol
12 September, 2009 at 1:16 am
With good maintenance, it can be used for quite some time. Mine has 5 years warranty so I’m not too bothered by it. Should be all right, but the external hard disk are meant to be used. What the point in buying but not using it?
