Blogging once or twice a month is totally not my style but I guess I’ll have to do something about this blogging habit of mine. It’s rare for me to find some time to sit in front of my computer during the Weekends. I am either at work or out for the day (Shopping!) during the weekends. o.O
As I was saying in my previous post when I first got my iPhone, the apps are what drove me get the phone and I have been exploring the Apps Store the past few weeks trying out all the various apps. I thought I would share some of the apps I’ve tried so far.
A free app for Twitter, formally known as Tweetie which seems to be a pretty popular app for Twitter. There are only a few things I don’t like about this app. The design/interface has too much white and thus may not be as easy to read as compared to some other apps. In addition, the lack of the traditional retweet style really puts me off. I got to admit I’m not a fan of the native retweet style build-in with the official Twitter. Besides that, I would definitely recommend this app (not to mention, it became free after Twitter acquired it).

The only paid app for Twitter I have tried. Priced at USD 0.99, it has potential to surpass the official Twitter app in my opinion. I love the clean and sleek look of the application especially the way your tweets and mentions are highlighted in another colour in the timeline. Not to mention, the planned update next week will include the traditional retweet style. Although I have experienced some issues with it such as not being able to upload photo to Twitpic via the app sometimes, it’s still pretty good for a new app.
Some missing features I’m looking at seeing in the future (some are planned for the next update): Geolocation support, “Reply all” feature, @ followers list when sending tweets and would also prefer the shortcut menu to appear when we swipe across the screen rather than clicking on the tweet.
Hipstamatic is my all time favourite camera app! Priced at USD 1.99, it only comes with the basic “lenses” and “films”. There are 5 in-app purchases at USD 0.99 each with more lenses, effects etc. Most of the time, the photos captured really do look like the ones taken with the real toy cameras! It’s fun to play with though I would say the price on iTunes doesn’t reflect the total cost of the app. Strictly speaking, the actual cost of the entire app is USD 6.94 with all 5 addons. It’s totally worth it! One issue I have with this app is the extremely small viewfinder because all the photos are cropped. I would definitely love to have a larger viewfinder though.

I just collected my iPhone 4 a few days back when I got a call at work to notify me about the collection. I rushed down straight after work at 6 because I was told “if you don’t collect it by today, you would have to reserve it again and wait for another week or so”. Thanks so much for giving me only 5 hours advance notification for collection.
Putting that aside, since this was my first Apple product (no, I do not have a Macbook, iPod nor iPad), I got to say I’m very impressed. =D To summarise, it’s sleek, heavy and I absolutely love the apps!
I went to work with the naked phone on day 1 without any screen protectors or casing. It feels so fragile and it’s tiring to constantly pay extra attention to it. Even my colleagues advised me to get some kind of clothings for it, like a screen protector and a casing to prevent scratches. I was getting annoyed with the fingerprints on the screen as well. Hence, I went case hunting with Chewy yesterday and ended up with the Power Support Anti-Glare Film Set and Incipio Ultra Light feather Casing in Pink.

Let’s start with the screen protectors. Just to note, I didn’t do any prior research on the screen protectors. The Power Support Anti-Glare Film Set caught my attention because of the “Made in Japan” sticker on it. I firmly believe that most products manufactured in Japan have pretty good quality due to the strict quality control. The price tag was quite steep at SGD 39 for a screen protector but it was after I bought it that I realised it comes with 2 pieces for the front and another for the back. So, it’s about SGD 19.50 for each which is quite worth it in my opinion because it’s really minimises the glare and fingerprints! Although it’s still quite prone to oil smudges but that’s still not a big issue for me. I love how the screen looks so matte now.
Apparently this particular screen protector has got very good reviews online too.

There are at least 1001 different types and designs of casings for the iPhones. I felt in love with the customised Bamboo iPhone cases from Grove I tweeted about a few days back. But I couldn’t bring myself to spend over USD 100 on just the casing now so I settled for a plain simple pink Incipio snap-on case at SGD 28. It feels good to the touch, rubbery although it’s plastic. I have a weird dislike for anything that is too bulky, made of hard plastic and shiny. It does not offer much protection on the front though since it doesn’t have a “bumper” covering the sides of the glass. Someday, I’m going to get one of the Grove’s cases.

After spending nearly an hour trying to login to the UOL External Website to check my examinations results, I finally manage to login! I was staring at the “Service temporary unavailable” and “Application error” for a long time before the server finally decides to let me in. o.O
Come to think of it, I am so glad I’m a blogger because I can check back on how I feel last year when I got my results. It’s really fantastic for people like me who has a memory chipboard that can only “record” 48 hours of my life. So apparently, the results are early by a week this year. I’m happy and I think I did better than the year before. =D
A big Congratulations to everyone who passed the exams! Did you just breathe a happy sigh of relief my dear friends?
Does this spells the end of my school life? Maybe not. We shall see.
