In my previous post, I have mentioned that I’ll be reviewing some of the skincare products I have tried recently. I bought quite a number of Japanese skincare products these few weeks (and even during my trip to Hong Kong and Macau) from brands like Kose and Mandom Beauty. It seems like Japanese skincare products works much better on my sensitive and acne prone skin. :)

CURE Natural Aqua Gel

CURE Natura Aqua Gel

I’m very impressed with CURE Natural Aqua Gel. It’s works like a scrub to exfoliate dead skin cells but it has a gel like texture without the usual abrasive beads. For a drug store scrub priced at SGD 38, I find it quite expensive. The price is comparable with other counter brands.

However, the awesome result from this scrub is able to compensate for its hefty price tag. It makes the skin really smooth and my moisturiser can absorbs better. I would say its effects are much better that the normal scrubs I’ve tried. I’m on the acne.org regimen and hence I often have dry flaky skin. Sometimes, I look horrible when I put on makeup because my skin is too dry. This gel totally solves the problem! I use it every other day especially before using any facial masks. Other than the price, I didn’t have much to complain about as there isn’t any negative reaction from my sensitive skin. Samples for CURE Natural Aqua Gel is available at The Sample Store. :)

For those not residing in Singapore, CURE can be purchased from Beauty Carousel.

Mandom Beauty Cleansing Express Sebum

I purchased Mandom Beauty Cleansing Express after I came back from Hong Kong. Initially I was using cleansing milk but it’s ineffective in removing my sunscreen. Cleansing oil on the other hand usually breaks me out. I haven’t found a good one which I like. However, Dove’s new cleansing oil is on my list of to-try. ;)

Sissy was using the moist version and it was raved by some others in a local forum as well. This makeup remover looks, feels and smells like water. Actually I think it doesn’t have a strong smell at all. It’s very watery in texture and I am able to remove my sunscreen, foundation, loose powder and blusher within minutes. It’s not bad for lazy bums like me who wants to get everything off my face fast. Of course, I double cleanse with my usual cleansing foam after that. Price is economic – SGD 16.90 for a huge 300ml bottle. The only thing I don’t like about this is the way the liquid is being dispensed. As it’s extremely watery, the liquid often squirted on my face and not on the cotton pad. :lame:

Nature & Co Bright Mask C

I got these last week at John Little during the weekends sales. So far, I have used it only twice but I love it already. It gives an immediate brightening effect. Only after using this do I realised my complexion had been very dull these days. :( I must really remember to use my facial masks on a weekly basis, all the late nights must have made it worse. The texture of this mask is very bouncy and it smells nice as well. It’s a very big tub for a face mask. I think it looks more like a hair mask. I would prefer it to be in a smaller quantity. Such a huge amount takes a longer time to use up. I bought it during the sales as I don’t usually spurge on face masks. SGD 33.90 for a tub of face mask is not cheap in my opinion.

Nature & Co Milky Lotion Light

Do you think this is a toner or moisturiser? I’m assuming it’s a moisturiser since I rarely see toner which are white in colour. Most toners are very watery but this one has a thicker texture. I’m actually quite surprise that my skin seems to be reacting okay with this product even though it contains mineral oil. Further more, mineral oil is quite high up the ingredients list (which means higher concentration of it).

Before purchasing it, I applied it on my left hand and a few minutes later, my left hand looks fairer than my right hand. I succumb to temptation and bought it. A little goes a long way. It’s hydrating enough for my oily but dehydrated skin and seems to work well together with my Mentholatum sunscreen. My pores looks smaller and skin tone is more even after application as well.

One thing I dislike about this product is the packaging of the lotion. The bottle opening is so huge that too much lotion is dispense at a time. I wonder why they didn’t realise this when deciding on the packaging for this product. This makes the usage of this lotion really troublesome.

I’ve to be careful not to dispense too much of it. If I really did, I’ll just use them on my neck instead. :x Products from Kose usually works pretty good for me and Nature & Co is not an exception either. I’m not disappointed by my recent skincare hauls!

Update 12 Sept 2009: I think the mineral oil is giving me blackheads just like most products with mineral oil does. :( Though the effects are good, the mineral oil is a huge no no for me. If you usually doesn’t have adverse reaction to mineral oil, these are rather good whitening products to try. :)

Can you tell me where I can buy CURE NATURA AQUA GEL? ^_^ I heard it works really well, and I’d like to buy it. But I don’t live near asia, I live in the united states and I’m wondering if I can still buy it.

Hello the link you provide for cure skincare sample does not work right now sadly. Do you know any other site that can sell/ or give cure sample? T_T I was so sad and want to try it before I buy it… also have you reviewed Laneige? I love there products and I think you would too.
    Thanks for your time.
    Alex

Thanks for the review on Cure! I am also using the acne.org regimen and wasn’t sure if this product would help with the flakiness/dryness of the bp. I’m using the jojoba oil to remove the dead skin, but didn’t work for too long… just okay. So hopefully Cure will help that like it did for your skin! :)

I’m glad this review helps. :) I heard massaging the Jojoba oil after cleansing for a few minutes is very good for removing flaky skin but I’ve not personally tried that myself. Another similar, cheaper alternative to CURE would be Etude Magic Bubble Peeling. It works the same way as CURE but I don’t really like it as much because of the high alcohol content. CURE is much gentler. :)

I found the almond milk tea a bit odd, haha. :P

I prefer not to get involved to avoid the drama. I’ve learned my lesson though, and I won’t be telling anyone my ideas from now on. :)

I really liked reading about these products, and I have rarely heard of them or even their brands. The watery cleanser sounds amazing that it’s just like water. I don’t usually use many products on my face; only sunscreen and moisturiser. I have more problems getting the sunscreen off my hands after applying it to my face.

It seems that some products are so great but they need to have a think about their packaging and the way they are dispensed. I have moisturiser that I apply to my legs, and it uses a squeeze pump which is a lot more handy than a simple open lid.

Also, some pumps are a disadvantage because they’re too tight, and you can’t control the amount that’s being dispensed. My sunscreen has problems like that; I always end up squeezing too much out of the pump because it’s hard to press down. :P

These brands are more common in Asia. :) I use my sunscreen and moisturiser on a daily basis as well. Hydration is important. My sunscreen has small opening though and it’s very watery. So I can just apply it on my neck if I dispense too much.

Hey I live in North America. Is there any way to get these products online? I have horrible acne! It’s to the point where I have blood blisters on my face along with seven week old bumps from zits! I’m currently seeing a doctor about my acne… not helping that much. So let me know OK?

    • avatar

I’m currently on the acne.org regimen. It helps to control my breakouts and zits really well. Although it’s drying on the face, a good moisturiser can fix that. I’ve been on the regimen for more than a year already. Perhaps you can take a look at that website for more information. I’m using Dan’s 2.5% benzoyl peroxide acne treatment and it works great for me. I think they ship worldwide as well. I purchase it online and have it shipped to Singapore. Hope this helps. :)

LOVE the post! =) i definitely intend to use the Cure gel coz my friend let me try some and it’s really pretty good =D I’m using Lancome’s scrub right now though so will only buy Cure when I’m finished with my L. The other products sounds absolutely tempting!! Keep reviewing, girl =) And so glad to see your site back up =D

CURE is a must-try! I’m pretty sure you will love it like your friend and I do. I was using Nuxe scrub before CURE and I still have got about 3/4 of Nuxe one left. :x

I’m actually really happy someone likes reading skincare/cosmetics reviews. I enjoy writing these as well, let’s just say that it’s a hobby of mine to try out new products. :P By the way, if you like trying out new products (like me!), perhaps you can check out the fr3b.com website. They give out FOC samples of products for testing purposes. :)

Yup, it’s working really well today. I’m crossing my fingers. Hope everything continues this way.
