It’s pretty obvious (from the post title) that economics is not my strong point. I did fairly okay for my macroeconomics, B+ last semester. I was hoping to do better in this semester’s module as I’m quite disappointed in my grades. However, my hopes totally vanished into thin air after reading through my lecture notes today. I went to Jurong East Library to study for Thursday upcoming test which takes up a shocking 25% of the module final grades :omg:. I make my own notes and Chapter 1 which was the introduction chapter was understandable by my small brain power. I’m going to touch on the topic about Demand and Supply which is so damn hard and long -.-. I got to finish it tonight so that I’ve time for the last 2 chapters tomorrow. I’ve finishing ranting about this
.
Anyway, today is the first day of school for a lot of school students. I was on a bus this morning, I saw a mother with her son who is obviously a primary 1 student on his way to school. So, the mother was combing her son’s hair and saying in chinese, “Must comb nice nice then handsome handsome for the first day of school.” :P I was pretty amused to hear that. Anyway, I still remembered my parents brought me to school on my first day of my primary school education which was a decade ago. I cried nearly the entire day because I was so freaked out by my form teacher, Ms Lim. She threw another student bag out of the door and shouted so loudly at him just because he forgot to bring something. I’m not the only one that cried. But my dad has to come in and calm me down before I have the thinking that I don’t ever want to go to school again. After that, this teacher really scare the hell out of me. Sometimes in class, when we do our homework wrongly, she would throw out exercise books to the ceiling towards the fan. The book would be in very poor condition after that and we got to redo and recopy everything :ooh:. Teachers these days seems to treat students better as their afraid of the complains that might reach them.

Whoa. That is crazy. You had a teacher who yelled at her students, its no wonder you cried. I am going to be a teacher so I find it interesting when people talk about their primary school experiences. By the way, Happy New Year!

Hello!
Oh well, if I am honest, I never liked teachers or any kind of professors just because of their attitude – and I was little surprised when I read in your entry how poorly some teachers treat students and pupils. When I started to attend primary school, I had a lot of problems with teachers, too. Sometimes they scared me, so I would run out of school and walked all the way to the place where my mom works.
Luckily, we don’t have Economics at my school (although it would be necessary from time to time)!
Hope the test goes well…cheers!

Ooh dear, Ms Lim sounds like the sort of woman who’s got permanent PMS.. freaky! Ahaha, the woman’s comment about brushing her son’s hair is hilarious. Hope the little boy didn’t look too mortified or anything!
Best of luck for the test tomorrow. Try your best, and nothing more could be asked of you! Microeconomics is a pain up the you-know-where, but after a certain point of studying, things somehow seem to click and become a bit easier to understand.
Eek 25% is quite significant, but that’s not worth stressing yourself out about! Take care.. x

First off, I’ve got to say I really love your website. I haven’t seen a site that I liked in so long; it’s almost refreshing. Your site has the perfect amount of personal reflection and user friendliness. I hope you don’t mind me wanting to link you back!
Anyways, on to actual commenting…
Economics is not my strong point either, especially micro, to me it’s just completely useless; next semester I’m signed up for macro… which, I think as well, seems more interesting and better suited to my needs.
However, good luck in the course! I’m sure you’ll do just fine… you just need to take a new perspective on it. From experience, when you make yourself overwhelmed it only makes the task much more difficult.
First days of school are still frightful to me. They shouldn’t be, but that are. I imagine the school system in Asia is much more strict that it is in North America. I have nieces and nephews living in India… and they cant wear nail polish… they’re little kids, too!
But I’m glad things are changing!

I’ve to agree about teachers these days too. Your teacher sounds extremely fierce. My Primary 1 teacher was pretty okay, but it was my Primary 5/6 teacher that scared me. I can still recall very vividly a time where she threw a chalk at me head in front of the entire class once, and called me a “Scatter brain” just because I didn’t know how to complete a problem sum.
She ought to encourage, not insult. It is encourangement that gives the student more drive and motivation to improve. Instilling fear in the student is going to draw more hatred than respect. Tsk.
Anyway, all the best for your upcoming test.
