He showed me an article on New Paper today about the heated argument about this JC guy who claim to have a single digit for his O levels. This was actually an argument in a gaming forum but ended up in today’s news. I was reading the gaming thread about this just now and I’m offended. Firstly, I’m a polytechnic student who qualifies to go to a JC. Secondly, he is way too arrogant. He should reflect on himself saying that polytechnic students are second class people as compared to them. Everyone in this world is equal. We’re the so call “stupid, mindless and childish” to him. Oh my god! I can’t believe such people still exist. For a young adult of his age, I have to admit he’s childish. :sigh:
Lets face it, it really is the fact that poly people are inferior in every sense.
No, I don’t think so. It’s saddening to see someone giving this kind of comments. In what way are we inferior?
We think and use our brains just like you do. Is there any problem with that? We study for our examinations too. It is not that we have more time but we have a more flexible time schedule. And one thing to note, we do not like you said, need more time to learn HTML. I think it depends on the learning ability and the interest of the person towards the subject that determines whether or not they learn faster or slower. In addition, I would definitely like to see how good you are at HTML. :ooh: Thank goodness he’s the only one that thinks that way, a large percentage of JC people are on the sensible side.

POly is still better.
1. poly students do very well and diploma cert is better.
2. an a lvl cert cannot do much. if anything crops up during A lvl. jiat lat liaoz. stuck at A lvl – almost equilevant to o lvl. lol!
3. A lvl is slightly faster – 1 yr fast. but poly life is much more fun!

People like this guy have problems with themselves…I do not exactly know, what the difference between JC and Poly is, but I think there is no need for him to say such things about others. :nono:

There are some people who just have problems with comprehension, and God forbid they should be punished for that. Unlike him, not everybody can be perfect, now can we? Hopefully he’ll someday humble himself and realize that even he has flaws

… Personally, I feel that if you’ve already decided your future career, going to poly would be a better option as compared to JC which is a total waste of time… And someone should knock some sense into him. Some poly courses are even harder to get into as compared to JC. Heh.. I should stop here in case i decide to turn this into an argumentative essay :hehe:

i guess he doesnt acknowledge that not everybody is academically inclined. Some people are skills inclined, IT inclined etc which are not taught in JCs. Maybe he just sees JC as the best path since Singapore emphasizes so much more on academic excellence and paper qualifications than skill-based qualifications.
Immature as he may seem, but i guess he just has his own doubts to clear. yup!

People like him are an absolute disgrace to the JC people. While it’s true that the cut-off point for JC is higher than that of poly, and there are people who go to poly because they couldn’t make it to JC, that doesn’t mean that they are less smart of inferior to those who are in JC. And there is a significant portion of people who chose to go to poly even though they met the requirements to enter JC as well. I have friends who had single digit results for their O levels, but decided to go to poly instead. A significant number of poly students make it to uni too! I have poly friends in my tutorial group, and I learn new things from them. So how on earth can they be inferior to the JC people?!
It’s a good thing that he’s one of the minority, because people like him really give a bad name to those who are in JC. And seriously, you can do well for the O levels based on memorisation too. Maybe he’s just good at memorising, but not in other areas. When he steps out into society, he’ll realise that with this kind of attitude, he’ll never get far.
