Right, just a slight warning, this is going to be a very long post. It was supposed to be a few days later post but I decided to type it all out today.
Anyway, about the trip. As I mentioned, it was boring. Why? Let’s start with Macau, the weather was cold, a jacket wasn’t enough to keep me warm and I’m freezing everyday there. And, shopping is almost a no no there. Again. Why? Firstly, I do admit the clothes from local stores are cheap but some was rather old fashion. And clothes from stores like Ebase was much more expensive then in Singapore. But the scenery there was great. I’ve uploaded some photos here, the rest are in my gallery.

The first one is the rather famous Wang Da Xian Temple in Hong Kong. We travel to Hong Kong by ship for a day, the weather there was even colder then Macau. The ride was about an hour and I swear the ship was so shaky that I almost puke.
The temple was very big, I’ve taken a few shots of it and it was busting with people, mostly tourist. We take the MRT there and there’s about 8 exits in one MRT station and it’s so confusing unless you’re a local there of course. And one thing I realise about the MRT was that the fares was much more costly then in Singapore. One single trip for about 6 stops is about $3 to $4 Singapore dollars. I reckon the most expensive trip in Singapore was only about $2+.
The second photo was the Tang Dynasty in Macau, the building hasn’t been completed inside thus we’re not allowed to enter and that’s the only photo I’ve taken of the place. The third one is the streets of Macau, I took it at the street towards the Ruins of St Pauls (4th picture). If I didn’t remembered wrongly, it was written there that the church was destroyed in a fire in 1835 and that’s the only remains of the church, hence the name Ruins of St Pauls. The 5th picture was the fort in Macau, the place was developed as a tourist attraction and not yet fully opened but the architecture of the place was beautiful. Lastly, the 6th photo was the bridge in Macau.
I uploaded the rest of the photos in my gallery so if you’re interested, check it out.
So, my personal opinions was that Macau is a place for adults than children – not that I am a children but I don’t gamble at all and so I do nothing there but eat. Shopping as I mentioned is a big no in shopping centers because you’ll find yourself looking at a pair of slippers costing S$800+. It scare the hell out of me when I looked at the price tags. Same goes for Hong Kong, the clothes are too pricey, even in shops that are not in big shopping centers but only in those roadside shops.
My experience with the custom didn’t go too well either. I’m not sure for other countries passport but for Singapore, we have the updated photo on the previous page of our particulars. I’m didn’t realise that oversea custom did not know that and because of that I have trouble at the custom. The original photo I used was a photo I had taken when I was a kid and the recent one was at the back. So, they kept looking at my kid photo and even asked me for my Singapore IC. But I didn’t bring it along with me since I had my passport. And why you ask didn’t I tell the person that the updated photo was at the back. Because I didn’t realise the person didn’t know that and I’m too short to look over the desk to see which page he is looking at.
And I also had a problem crossing the erm, scanner thing where the scan you for metallic items or something like that. The alarm goes off because my entire belt is made of metal and it somehow trigger off the alarm. -_-
See, I did mention this was going to be a long post and it’s only half of it.
We’re travelling on Tiger Airways this time. And you know something? I just realise how kiasu some people can be. There is free seating so we’re not assign a seat number but seated according to where you like. And some people, middle aged men was pushing and running towards the plane, neglecting the fact that they are knocking and bumping in the the elderly people in front of them. Just to get a good seat? I can’t believe some people are like that until I saw what happened with my own eyes. It was the flight back to Singapore. I think the attendance of the plane was rather shocked to see all the kiasu people running onto the plane. It was so bad that one english women shouted at the people behind her. I remembered it was “For god sake, stop pushing!”
But one thing I really really enjoyed there was the food. The food was good especially the tim sum. Cheap, good and no wonder we often see in shows that people in Hong Kong loved to go for tea. I doubt the tim sum here would be that cheap but I have tim sum every morning there. I missed the food there.
Overall, I would say shopping is not the thing there but eating yes. I spend all the evening and night watching TV there (thank goodness I can understand Cantonese although speaking wise I wasn’t that good) while my parents went off to gamble. If you love eating and walking around, it’s a choice. Macau and Hong Kong.
So I got my results too last Friday, it wasn’t good, I got an A in CIP, 3B+ and 2C+ with a Grade Point Average of 3.227. It was pathetic although there was an improvement from the 3.00 to 3.227. I’ll work harder next semester! Also, I finally upgraded my gallery, it took my quite some time to edit all the files again.
I missed Singapore! I really do in case you don’t believe me
It’s only when you’re not home, you’ll start to miss home like crazy. So I’m back to the good old routine of shopping.

Slippers cost more than $800?! Wow.
I wonder who would buy it. I like the 5th and 6th pictures, they are beautiful. Thanks, now I know a bit more about Macau. Perhaps I would not vist Macau for shopping, but I would love to try the tim sum there.

Wow I think this is a very well designed site!!
I think their MRT system map is more complex than Singapore’s.. with so many different routes intercepting each other. They’ve got different languages reporting the station name.. which I think is cool! I miss Hong Kong man..
And yes.. the food in Hong Kong is fabulous!!! I love the Tim Sum a lot too. ( I’m feeling a little hungry already.. )

The last time I’ve been to Macau was back in 2004, and from the looks of it, it didn’t seem to change much.
I have to agree with you, though. There is virtually nothing for us to do in Macau, except gamble (for the adults), and just general sightseeing. I remember walking into the casino there, and (surprise, surprise!), nobody bothered to check my IC. :P
Anyway, lovely photos you’ve got there!

The last 5 pictures of the gallery? Those were taken in Hanoi.:hehe: Yup, local things are all right but the more common brands like Ebase, Sasa, H20, Veeko etc the things are a lot more expensive. And almost all the price tags are 4 digits. -_-
