Exploring Iluma

Posted in: Daily Life, Website

Thanks to everyone who voted for me at the WordPress Best Design Awards, your votes are very much appreciated. If you haven’t, please drop me a vote if you like Amour Chaleur’s design and help spread the word around (twittering, blogging about it, anything!). :) Every single vote would help to make my goal of opening my own e-shop closer as mentioned in my previous post.

I’ve been busy mugging1 for my upcoming final UOL examinations so I wouldn’t be very active until the end of May but I’ll still be on twitter and flickr. Sorry if I haven’t been visiting for some time. :( I have huge plans for Amour Chaleur in June. I will be making a new layout and will try to “pull away” from the current style. I want a new break through in my layout designs! :D I also plan to revamp 60% of the content – higher quality and quantity (in regards to my visitors content). Hopefully, I will be able to finish it during the first 2 weeks of June before moving on to my client’s project and other side projects like my e-shop.

So, Chewy and I went to “explore” Iluma, the new shopping mall located at Bugis. If you have been following my twitter, you would have known that there were some small hiccups along the way. :( Nevertheless, we made it safe and sound home. The shopping mall is open but most of the shops aren’t, thus if you plan on going, wait till June when most of the shops would be open. The cinema and the arcade fills up the entire top floor and there is this “secret” rooftop area. It overlooks Bugis and the entrance is hidden inside the arcade so do remember to check it out when you are there. :) But some people take it as a smoking area and it totally spoils the view. I meant with a wonderful view but the air is filled with cigarette smoke.

I’m mentally exhausted so I’ll let the photos do the talking again today. They are cross posted from my flickr so you can click on them to view the full size photo from my flick account.

  1. It can be used to describe someone stuffing a great deal of information from the textbook into his head, meaning tons of mere studying for long periods of time. This word is very common in countries like Singapore. [«]
Sunshine after the rain?

Sunshine after the rain?

I thought I’ll post a short note here. I’ll be away until March 11 for my final mocks, I’m actually already having my exams now. So I wouldn’t be too active here until after my paper on the 11th. I’m still rather alive at Twitter, so you can find me there. ;) I’ve been cracking my head for the next layout but still can’t make a good one I like. The header image is more or less completed (I think some of you had a sneak preview) :D . But I just can’t seem to fit the content background and navigation into the design. Nevermind, I shall worry about that later. :surprised:

And something to add this short post, I took this last evening (click to see full size photo). It’s been raining almost everyday and it’s my first time seeing the sunset behind those dark clouds. Perhaps this might meant that I’m going to see sunshine after my exams?

I had a rather enjoyable Valentine’s this year although we only went out for dinner at Bobby’s. It was my first time having dinner there. Chewy and I met up with Iris and Ming Ngam at CHIJMES1. It’s been a really long time since the four of us went out together. Each of us are busy with our own life mainly school, work and for the guys, National Service. We took around 3.5 hours to finish our dinner. Most of the time was spend waiting and talking. I think there’s too much customers such that the waiters kept forgetting about our orders. We waited nearly an hour for the dessert and reminded them for around 3 to 4 times before our desserts were served. I was afraid that the taste and quality of the food might be compromised since that’s always the case when it’s a special day due to the large number of customers. The food was surprisingly good despite the long waiting time. It’s a plus point that the location and ambience was good, it was in CHIJMES so I didn’t expect anything less.
