Lunch
One thing I miss about school is having lunch. I hate to admit it but during my holidays, I tend to wake up in the afternoon so I usually skipped my lunch. After school started, I wake up at about 10am when I have afternoon classes. I have my lunch at home before going to school. Mum cooked fish fillet, harshbrown and eggs for lunch. It’s been a really long time since I last ate such a fabulous meal.
Talking about school, my first Audit class went great. The lecturer is very interesting and told us quite a bit of interesting things. One thing which I find ironic is that most of us (the Accountancy students) do not know why Debit is DR (with the R) and credit is CR. Where did the R from DR came from? =p I’m so glad to say that there are finally things I know which Chewy doesn’t. Chewy is a much better and intelligent student as compared to me.
I’m rather inspired by something the lecturer told us during the class.
Life is short. Enjoy it. Everyday is an interesting day.
He told us to enjoy going for classes. Thinking about it, I can’t remember when is the last time I enjoyed and looked forward to attending classes. I think it was 2 years back while I was still in Ngee Ann Polytechnic. That was the time when I truly felt school was enjoyable. I’m happy waking up early for school, meeting my friends in the morning, having lunches together and working on projects. I missed those times. Anyway, the way that particular lecturer conducts his classes makes me remember the stuff he had said.
I am taking Financial Reporting, Information Systems & Organisation and Management Science Methods as well. ISO was boring. The problem is not with the lecturer. He’s nice, friendly and easy going. But the facts is just dry and dull. I can’t remember how many times I doze off during the first lesson. This is bad. I should sit next to the windows in the future. This will reduce the probability of falling asleep in class.
Enough about the classes, I’m extremely happy to say that I have completed my first official client’s project.
The illustration of the man is based on the actual photo of the site owner. He’s a good friend of Bee Keng. I have enjoyed myself tremendously working on this project. This is my first time drawing an illustration based on a real life photograph.

Site Glamour Mascot
I mentioned about holding a Site Glamour Contest a few weeks back. I’ve set up the contest page. I took a few suggestions and made some changes to the contest. By the way, registration opens on 31st August! I need to do a bit of advertising for it. =D The blue bubbles “thing” you see on the left is the mascot of the contest. It is a robot not a dog. Chewy insisted it looks like a dog.
Anyway, I think it’s so adorable that I use Miss Bubbles for my new twitter background as well. LOL! This is called “killing 2 birds with 1 stone”?
Sponsorship for the prizes of the contest is open. Thus, if anyone would like to sponsor this contest with prizes (advertising etc.), feel free to contact me about it. There are 4 sponsors currently. Thanks Ivy, Jenny, Dayze and Lissie for offering to sponsor and promote this contest.
One of the rounds of the contest is a discussion of the contestants about a certain topic and then the public will response and discuss. I need your suggestions about topics for that round. So if you have any ideas for questions or topics to discuss, please post it on the topic discussion page. I’ll be waiting to hear from you!

Hahaha, I’m the same as you! School starts in 2 weeks for me, so right now, I’m still enjoying my summer, waking up at around two in the afternoon and missing breakfast. When school starts, I’ll have to wake up at 7AM…
One of the things I miss SO MUCH from our school cafeteria is the cookies! They are soo goooooddd.
I don’t think I’ve ever tasted any cookie as delicious as those! (btw, is that Spam i see in your picture? I had that for brunch this afternoon too! haha)
Congrats on finishing your first client work! I’m sure he’ll be happy with it! =D

Hi Dayna! Its true that my eating habits were better when I was going regularly to college/school too…but in a different kind of way. When I am at home ,I tend to eat alot more and gain weight
lol!
That banne/layout looks really good. I could never draw something like that in photoshop. I usually use illustrator. About the contest, it sounds so interesting I am looking forward to it. I would like to sponsor the prizes too! I will contact you about it once I decide about the prize I could sponsor. My comment will be too long but I have to say, I love your site!! I love this layout and the content
The Bubbles mascot looks super cute and I love your twitter background
so colorful!
Totally unrelated question: How did you get the custom smiley plugin in wordpress to validate? I tried but my comments page is still not valid XHTML due to this plugin
29 August, 2009 at 10:45 am
It’s the same for me. I tend to eat more snacks and supper when I’m at home. I’m still trying to slim down the few kilograms I gain during my holidays.
Sure, thanks for being interested in sponsoring the contest. I hope it motivates more people to join. It’ll be more exciting that way.
I didn’t use the custom smiley plugin because it didn’t validate. I think they input the CSS in the body section of the HTML. I have informed the plugin’s author previously but I’m not sure if the issue was fixed. Personally, I do it the manual way by changing the short keys of the smilies and using the WP Grins Lite to insert the smilies. I’ve a short tutorial here. Hope this helps!

hash browns, eggs, baked beans- im still salivating even though i just ate dinner lol.
pretty web layout! what do you use to draw your illustration btw?
29 August, 2009 at 12:09 am
Those are my favourites!
I use Photoshop for that one above. Occasionally, I use Illustrator as well but I’m not good at drawing with that. I prefer drawing with Photoshop.

“Life is short. Enjoy it. Everyday is an interesting day.”
That is so TRUE! That is just something that I need to keep in mind, so it will prevent me from boredom or sickness with this life. What a nice sentence.
29 August, 2009 at 11:00 am
Yup, I think it’s very inspiring. We need to hear such things every now and then to motivate us in life.
28 August, 2009 at 12:15 am
I do eat lunch during the summer, but it’s more of a brunch, since I sleep in so late that I don’t have breakfast. And… not gonna lie, the food at my school’s cafeteria is REALLY good! I am kind of missing it. :P
And, wow. You have some serious talent. That website looks fantastic! *jealous*
28 August, 2009 at 12:31 am
Me too, I sleep in so late that I don’t even have my lunch.
It’s sad to admit it but my school doesn’t actually have a cafeteria.
27 August, 2009 at 6:58 pm
lol man that foooood…. *drools* i love bubbles! he’s cute! =D i like the layout you made for your friend’s friend too! =D
Site glamor sounds fun! I’d love to sponsor something (thinking of what I can sponsor)
Glad your site’s back up and running!

I’m not sure how long it will be up for Singtel users. I can confirmed that it’s working for Starhub users, as well as users from the rest of the world.
27 August, 2009 at 12:32 pm
*jaw drops* And here I was glad I had finished my own layout… that one looks incredible. I’d give anything to be able to make one like that D:
Oh classes… sometimes I miss them as well. I generally tended to get all fired up at the start of the semester and thing “OOOH I’ll do this and that”, and even do some self study on some topics… I very very rarely managed to accomplish anything though. Here’s to hoping you’ll have more resilience.
Oh and now I’m all hungry. *eyes food picture enviously*
27 August, 2009 at 12:36 pm
Thanks for the compliments about the layout.
Anyway, I think I’m like you. I tend to tell myself “I’ll do research and read up on this topic etc” but rarely none of those are done.
I usually call this “all talks in the world but no actions are done”.
